In-home elder care (non medical) and companionship for our Senior Citizens

Your loved one deserves to feel safe, seen, and cared for — and you deserve a break.

Caring for aging parents or an ailing spouse can feel overwhelming.

You want to keep them comfortable at home, but you can’t do it all alone.

We provide the presence, patience, and skilled support so your loved one feels cherished and you feel at peace.

Hi there, I’m Vickie

My focus is on the aging population needing assistance with the activities of daily living (ADLs).

I aim to make a significant difference, enhancing the lives of our elders and their families while helping each individual retain as much independence as possible.

I realized this passion as I witnessed my own parents in their later phases of aging — and their need for skilled, dependable, and compassionate care, allowing them to remain in their own home.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, I offer in-home care as well as in-facility assistance with tender care and compassion.

My service areas include the southern and western suburbs of Denver (Littleton, Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Lonetree, Lakewood, Golden, Wheat Ridge, Morrison, Genesee, Lookout Mountain, Evergreen, and others).

I am an Auburn University graduate and an active, fit senior myself with an abundance of energy to serve our aging seniors, each with their own unique needs that will likely increase over time.

We highly encourage our clients to stay socially active through meaningful activities and conversation.

We provide gentle motivation for light exercise and mental engagement.

We develop genuine friendships and compassionate presence for everyday moments.

One of our favorite things to do is provide varied enrichment, with opportunities to enjoy a planned field trip or simple outing to a park bench in the sunshine, an ice cream treat in the foothills, or even a visit to the Denver Zoo.

As always, we prioritize open communication and regular updates for family members.

  • Respite Care

    Respite Care

We provide compassionate, much-needed relief for family caregivers who give so much of themselves.

Take time to rest, recharge, and care for yourself — guilt-free.

You’ll have peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe, comfortable, and cared for.

I hired Vickie Meehan in the fall of 2022 to help with my elder sister, Dorothy C. Vickie has gone above and beyond all of my expectations!  She has been a god-send to our family! After [Dorothy’s] surgery she was placed in a nursing home for post-op rehabilitation.  Vickie continued to visit Dorothy at this location to help her get acclimated by attending craft classes, game nights, group movies and some meals with her.  She was instrumental in encouraging Dorothy to meet other residents, participate in group activities and stay engaged.

I give Vickie Meehan of Helping Hands my whole-hearted endorsement and recommendation.  Definitely a 5+ star rating for her professionalism, capability, genuine care, smiling face and knowledge about senior care and dementia.

Vickie is the BEST!

My husband had Primary Progressive Aphasia.  We have long term health care (LTC) insurance so I needed a provider that was approved by them.

After several months [of unsuccessful caregivers] I found Vickie.  She worked at our home while we both worked on getting her LTC approval.  Most important, Vickie is truly knowledgeable and skilled in caregiving and it showed in her competence at her job.  Vickie always had a positive attitude.  Vickie was patient and kind to my husband.  Vickie followed all critical instructions:  bathroom, meal, and exercise times.  Vickie offered enrichment on her own.  Vickie was kind to me and gave me emotional support that I forgot I needed.

Eighteen months later [after husbands passing], Vickie still reaches out to me to see how I'm doing.  To sum it up:  I wish I had found Vickie as soon as a caregiver was needed.  I can only imagine the improved life both my husband and I would have had.  THANK YOU Vickie.  Much love always.

I can’t say enough about the exceptional care and professionalism Vickie provided for my elderly father.  From the very first day, it was clear that he wasn’t just receiving transportation - he was receiving genuine, heartfelt care. Vickie always arrived on time greeted him with warmth and make sure he felt safe and comfortable every step of the way.

In addition to driving, Vickie helped with light meal prep, which was an incredible support for our family. She made sure he had something nutritious and easy to enjoy, handling everything with patience and attention to detail.

We are deeply grateful for everything Vickie did for us.  Her reliability, compassion, and calm presence brought us tremendous peace of mind.  She was more than a driver - she was a trusted partner in my father’s care.

Vickie has been a blessing to our family over the last 4 1/2 years as a caregiver and friend to our Mom.  She takes care of Mom’s personal needs each week as well as provides her with social activities.  They have cooked together, gone on field trips to museums, restaurants, Botanic Gardens, etc., made cookies, laughed, looked at countless books, and participated in church activities when we’re not available.

When Mom broke a bone and was in rehab, Vickie visited her and gave our family a break in caregiving.  She listens and understands my mother’s needs.  It’s wonderful to trust Vickie to care for Mom each week and to know Mom looks forward to her visits.

Vickie at Helping Hands improved Mom’s well being and our lives as her family members. As Mom was aging she required more attention from us. We asked Vickie to provide companionship for Mom so that we could have some time off from care giving. What developed was so much more than companionship.

Vickie took her to doctors and PT. Vickie learned to help with the exercises Mom needed and gave her massages to relieve her discomfort. At first Mom was resistant to needing a care giver, but soon Vickie became her friend and an outlet for the often boring days of her senior years. Vickie took Mom on outings to parks, gardens, lunches, walks and introduced her to other clients who became friends. Mom’s life was so much richer once Vickie was involved. Knowing that Vickie was with her, gave us such a sense of relief. We were even able to travel knowing Vickie was providing good care for Mom.

Theirs was a friendship that lasted to Mom’s ending days. Mom wanted Vickie with her at doctor’s visits and in hospital and finally hospice. We recommend  Vickie’s Helping Hands for your loved ones!

I would like to recommend Vickie wholeheartedly for her compassion and high level of care. When I became ill in 2021 and was in a wheelchair, Vickie was instrumental in providing me in-home care so I could come home from the hospital. She is a great cook, can fold fitted sheets like a pro, and is great company.

Warm regards,

-LG

I am please to say that Vickie Meehan provided excellent care for my late wife  for 5 years that included help with  her showers, shampoo, hairstyling, cooking meals, etc.  She was very pleasant and always on time.  Occasionally she arranged to stay over night several nights, while I traveled..  She helped with grocery shopping, played memory games, led my wife in exercise and helped with light housekeeping.  She took my wife on outings to the Denver Zoo, Botanical Gardens, etc.  I am pleased to say  Vickie came to me well recommended, and I am happy to recommend her as an experienced excellent caregiver.

I’m thrilled to have Vickie’s smiles & enthusiastic demeanor. She takes care of my dad’s hygiene needs, showering him twice a week followed by lotion application and neck and shoulder massage. Spends time in conversations and interactions to stimulate his memory and mobility. She gets him to smile, that’s just what he needs!
